Tae Kyung Byun, M.A.

Tae Kyung Byun is the Head of Government and Public Relations at IVI where he leads and oversees institutional communications and relations with government and public agencies, private companies and individuals including funders and donors within the Republic of Korea, IVI’s host and state funder. Additionally, Tae Kyung is responsible for guiding and managing media relations and advocacy efforts aimed at enhancing IVI’s public awareness and visibility as an international organization and reputation as a global center of excellence in vaccine R&D and coordinating and supporting public fundraising initiatives within the private sector in the host country.

Tae Kyung initially joined IVI in 2002 as the Public Awareness & Advocacy Officer. With over 20 years of experience at IVI, he has played various roles in the field of communications, donor and public relations, advocacy, and resource mobilization, while working in collaboration with a diverse range of donors (such as the Korea Support Committee for IVI), partners and other stakeholders.

Before joining IVI, Tae Kyung served as a national and business desk reporter for The Korea Herald, a leading English daily. During his time there, he worked as a correspondent covering government ministries and industries including healthcare, advertising, and steelmaking.

Tae Kyung holds a master’s degree in economics from the Graduate School of International Area Studies, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul.
