September 6, 2021 SEOUL, Korea — The International Vaccine Institute’s (IVI) 20^th annual International Vaccinology Course (IVC), a 5-day free, online course begins today. The IVC will provide a comprehensive overview of vaccinology with a particular focus on COVID-19, featuring 26 lectures from distinguished experts across academia and global health and vaccine organizations including the World Health Organization, Gavi, CEPI, U.S. National Institutes of Health, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and more.

The sessions will begin at 15:00 Korea Standard Time (6:00 UTC) each day on Zoom at the link provided upon registration, and a live Q&A will directly follow most lectures. For those unable to join the livestream, a recording of the day’s lectures will be made available on IVI’s YouTube channel the same day at 15:00 Eastern Time (19:00 UTC).

The 20^th IVC will open with welcome remarks from the Course Director, Dr. Anh Wartel, Deputy Director General at IVI, followed by congratulatory remarks from the First Lady of the Republic of Korea, Madame Kim Jung-sook. IVI’s Director General, Dr. Jerome Kim, will deliver a keynote speech addressing the current global COVID-19 situation.

About the International Vaccinology Course

IVI’s International Vaccinology Course (IVC) is one of the longest running vaccinology courses in the Asia-Pacific region. As of 2019, the course has trained over 1,500 people from six continents, representing a diverse group of professionals early and advanced in their careers across academia, industry, government, and non-governmental organizations. IVC aligns with IVI’s mission to make vaccines available for global health by building capacity in vaccinology and promoting vaccine sustainability in developing countries. The first course was held in 2000, and this year, we’re celebrating its 20th anniversary.
