Hee Soo Kim, M.D., Ph.D.

Hee Soo Kim, M.D., Ph.D., is the Deputy Director General of IVI’s Clinical, Assessment, Regulatory, Evaluation unit and an experienced physician with a demonstrated history of working in the vaccine industry for 15 years. He graduated from Yonsei University College of Medicine in Seoul, Korea, and obtained a Ph.D. from the same university. He was trained in Pediatrics at Severance Hospital, Yonsei University.

After a 15-year career as a practicing pediatrician, he joined the vaccine industry as the Country Medical Director at Sanofi Pasteur in 2009. He has rich experience in vaccine clinical trials for pediatric primary series, meningococcal conjugate, Japanese encephalitis, influenza, and Hepatitis A. He is also interested in infectious diseases epidemiology and the impact evaluation of immunization. He has launched healthcare workers’ vaccination programs for Tdap and MCV4, implemented in multiple hospitals and thousands of clinics in Korea. He designed and implemented vaccination programs for mass gathering sports events, including MCV4 vaccination for 20,000 volunteer workers of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

During his 11 years at Sanofi, he took on various responsibilities and served as the head of marketing in addition to medical and regulatory affairs. He was a leader of a multi-country organization as Medical Head for North Asia Cluster, including Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

Before joining IVI, he worked at Moderna since 2021 as the founding executive of the Korean subsidiary.
