IVI’s 25th International Vaccinology Course

As the International Vaccinology Course marks its 25th anniversary, this year’s theme, “Vaccines for a Connected World: A One Health Perspective,” reflects the increasingly interconnected nature of global health and the importance of collaboration across disciplines, sectors, and borders. This year’s course will explore how vaccines support the broader One Health framework, which recognizes the close connection between human, animal, and environmental health. The course will examine how integrated approaches spanning vaccination, surveillance, research, innovation, and policy can strengthen preparedness, advance global health security, and support more effective responses to health challenges.
About the IVI International Vaccinology Course
IVI’s International Vaccinology Course is a training program to build knowledge, practical skills, and connections in vaccine science and development. Through lectures, quizzes, case studies, networking opportunities, and site visits, the course provides vaccine professionals an inclusive and immersive training experience. World-renowned experts from diverse fields, including vaccinology, immunology, epidemiology, communication, and related fields, serve as faculty members.
Established in 2000, the International Vaccinology Course is one of the longest-running vaccinology courses in Asia. It is a vital component of IVI’s work to discover, develop, and deliver safe, effective, and affordable vaccines—empowering vaccine equity, impact, and sustainability globally. The program has trained more than 5,000 vaccine professionals from across the world in person and certified an additional 1,100 participants through an online edition of the course, fostering lasting collaborative partnerships in research and public health.
General registration opens on 14 April 2026 and closes on 31 July 2026
Who should attend?
We invite researchers from around the world who are working, studying, or conducting research in vaccinology to register for the course. We recommend that registrants have a background in vaccines, biotechnology, public health, or a related field, with professional proficiency in English. The course will be conducted entirely in English without translation or interpretation services.
Locations
The course will take place in person at three locations: IVI headquarters in Seoul, Republic of Korea; Kigali, Rwanda, co-hosted by the University of Rwanda; and Stockholm, Sweden, co-hosted by the Karolinska Institutet.
Lectures will be broadcast across sites to create a shared learning experience, and participants will also engage in site-specific activities and local field trips. We strongly encourage prospective trainees to register at the location closest to them, mindful of travel costs and environmental impact.

The course fee includes all course materials, daily lunches and refreshments, a networking reception, as well as the welcome dinner. Please note that airfare, accommodation, and ground transportation are not included. Travel arrangements are covered for fellows and invited speakers; all other participants are responsible for organizing their own travel.
* Students currently enrolled at the University of Rwanda (UR) are eligible to apply for the International Vaccinology Course directly through the university. Participation with eligible registration through UR is free of charge.
** Students who are currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program or who hold a Ph.D. and are currently affiliated with a university in Sweden may register for the International Vaccinology Course as a KI Doctoral Course through the Karolinska Institutet (KI) application system. Applications are open on the KI website.
Applications for the IVI Vaccinology Fellowship open on 14 April 2026 and close on 24 May 2026
Who can apply?
The IVI Vaccinology Fellowship is open to researchers from low- and middle-income countries and supports their participation in the International Vaccinology Course. We invite researchers from these countries who are working, studying, or conducting research in vaccinology to apply for the fellowship. We recommend that applicants have a background in vaccines, biotechnology, public health, or a related field, with professional proficiency in English, as the course will be conducted entirely in English.
The IVI Vaccinology Fellowship provides financial support to attend the course, including the course fee, travel, accommodation, and meals, to selected researchers from low- and middle-income countries who demonstrate leadership potential in public health in their home countries and current workplaces. Application results will be communicated via email by 20 July 2026.
Fellows will attend the course as full participants at one of the three locations.
