IVI’s 19th International Vaccinology Course

Established in 2000, IVI’s Vaccinology Course is one of the longest running vaccinology courses in the Asia-Pacific region. It helps fulfill our mission of making vaccines available for global health by building capacity in vaccinology and promoting vaccine sustainability in developing countries.

Over 18 years, the course has trained more than 1,350 vaccine professionals from low- and middle-income countries worldwide, and has fostered collaborative partnerships in research and public health.

2019 Vaccinology Course Agenda

The five-day course provides a comprehensive overview of vaccinology with a focus on practicality. Beginning with a refresher in epidemiology and immunology, the course moves through the vaccine development spectrum from applied topics in discovery to development to delivery.

The course is a combination of lectures and interactive case studies presented and facilitated by experts from academia, industry, government, and non-governmental organizations.  Previous lecturers have included those from the World Health Organization, icddr,b, U.S. National Institutes of Health, GSK, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Gavi, Johns Hopkins University, Seoul National University, and IVI.

Day 4 Vaccine Introduction Part 1: From Licensure to Introduction

Who Should Attend?

IVI’s Vaccinology Course is open to all applicants working in the field of vaccinology. It is recommended that applicants have a background in vaccines and/or vaccination and be proficient in English. The working language of the course is English. No translations or interpretations will be provided.

Location

The course will be held at the IVI Headquarters on the campus of Seoul National University (SNU), one of South Korea’s top universities. Accommodations will be arranged by IVI

Fees

Total Course Fee: $4000 (for intenrational participants) – covers course costs for five days, including: lunch, coffee breaks, welcome dinner, networking reception, farewell dinner, course materials, hotel accommodations, airport pick-up service, and ground transportation between hotel and IVI

Total Course Fee: $2500 (for individuals in Seoul) – covers course costs for five days, including: lunch, coffee breaks, welcome dinner, networking reception, farewell dinner and course materials

Fellowships

IVI grants fellowships to people from low- and middle-income countries otherwise unable to attend the course. A select number of fellowships are competitively awarded to individuals with financial need, leadership potential, and who have made contributions to public health in their country.

IVI Fellowship program will cover the following costs: course fee, airfare, accommodations, meals, visa fee and ground transportation
In return, fellows are expected to present a poster during the course.

Regular applications must be received by:

  • August 1, 2019 for international applicants;
  • August 31, 2019 for domestic applicants (on-site registration is also available for domestic applicants).
