IVI joins WHO’s new Global Clinical Trials Forum
13 October 2025 — The International Vaccine Institute (IVI) has joined the World Health Organization’s Global Clinical Trials Forum, a new global, multi-stakeholder network established to strengthen clinical trial environments and infrastructure worldwide. This forum supports the implementation of WHO’s Guidance for Best Practices for Clinical Trials and the Global Action Plan for Clinical Trial Ecosystem Strengthening, promoting collaboration among governments, regulators, research institutions, and communities to advance high-quality, ethical, and equitable clinical trials.
As a launch member, IVI will contribute its expertise in vaccine research, clinical development, and regulatory engagement to help shape and harmonize clinical trial practices globally. Through participation in thematic working groups, IVI will collaborate with partners to enhance trial readiness, build capacity, and accelerate the generation of reliable evidence to guide health decision-making.
“Joining the Global Clinical Trials Forum reflects IVI’s commitment to strengthening global research systems and ensuring that countries can conduct high-quality clinical trials,” said Dr. Jessica Cowden, Deputy Director General of IVI’s Clinical, Assessment, Regulatory, and Evaluation unit. “We look forward to collaborating with partners to advance equitable, sustainable evidence generation, supporting IVI’s mission to discover, develop, and deliver safe, effective, and affordable—empowering vaccine equity, impact, and sustainability globally.”
