IVI appoints In-Kyu Yoon as Deputy Director General of Integrated Development and Pandemic/Outbreak Readiness

8 April 2026, SEOUL, Republic of Korea — The International Vaccine Institute (IVI) announces that Dr. In-Kyu Yoon has been appointed Deputy Director General of the newly established Integrated Development and Pandemic/Outbreak Readiness unit, effective April 2026.
Dr. Yoon, also known as “Q,” brings over 25 years of experience in vaccine research and development, epidemic preparedness, and global scientific leadership. Throughout his career, he has led and coordinated scientific strategy and partnership initiatives across international institutions, including his previous roles at IVI as Deputy Director General of Science, Director of the Dengue Vaccine Initiative, and Senior Scientific Advisor to the Director General, as well as senior research and development leadership positions at the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) and the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research-Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences (WRAIR-AFRIMS).
He completed his undergraduate studies at Yale University and received his M.D. from the New York University School of Medicine.
As Deputy Director General of Integrated Development and Pandemic/Outbreak Readiness, Dr. Yoon will lead the strategic coordination of innovation, new initiatives, partnership development, and capacity strengthening under the new unit’s structure. He will also support cross-unit collaboration and engagement with external partners and funders, while strengthening IVI’s preparedness for emerging pandemic and outbreak challenges and its integrated readiness to develop vaccine solutions for both outbreak and endemic diseases.
