IVI and the Regionalized Vaccine Manufacturing Collaborative sign partnership agreement to advance regional vaccine manufacturing and equity
3 December 2025 — The International Vaccine Institute (IVI) and the Regionalized Vaccine Manufacturing Collaborative (RVMC), hosted by CEPI, signed a Memorandum of Understanding today to deepen cooperation in strengthening the resilience and sustainability of vaccine manufacturing and supply chains across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and other regions. The agreement reflects a shared commitment to expanding equitable vaccine access and supporting countries in developing manufacturing capacity for routine immunization and outbreak preparedness.
IVI Director General Jerome Kim and RVMC Managing Director Frederik Kristensen signed the agreement in Oslo, Norway.
Under the memorandum, IVI and RVMC will pursue opportunities to provide technical expertise, capacity building, and coordinated support to countries seeking local manufacturing capacity and reliable access to vaccines. This includes work underway with ASEAN Member States through the ASEAN Vaccine Security and Self-Reliance (AVSSR) initiative, led by Thailand, which aims to strengthen regional manufacturing, increase production, and ensure sustainable access. The partnership will also explore new initiatives to enhance end-to-end vaccine ecosystems and financing platforms, advancing health innovation and regional health sovereignty.
The agreement reinforces IVI’s mission to discover, develop, and deliver safe, effective, and affordable vaccines, while supporting RVMC’s goal of supporting the building of sustainable vaccine capacities that expand vaccine equity and strengthen health security and access worldwide.
