Saudi Leadership at IVI
Dr. Ziad Ahmad A. Memish, Senior Consultant of Infectious Diseases and Director of the Research Department at the Prince Mohamed Bin Abdulaziz Hospital and Ministry of Health, has served on the IVI Board of Trustees since 2019.
Ongoing Collaboration
In May 2021, IVI and the Saudi Arabia-based Future Investment Initiative Institute (FII-I) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to cooperate on scientific research in infectious diseases
Previous Collaboration
Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV)
Saudi Arabia’s collaboration with the International Vaccine Institute (IVI) initiated in 2015, when IVI co-organized a MERS-CoV vaccine development workshop in conjunction with the Saudi Ministry of Health and the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology. A follow-up meeting to the workshop was held in December 2015 by the World Health Organization (WHO), with meeting proceedings published in Nature Medicine.
