IVI and Kuwait

State Relations

In 2004, the IVI Board of Trustees approved Kuwait as an IVI member state following a request from the Ministry of Health to join IVI. However, Kuwait has not yet completed the accession process.

In 2007, special dignitaries from Kuwait joined the 10th anniversary celebration of IVI, where H.H. Princess Sheikha Fariha Al-Sabah was honored as Chairwoman of the Ideal Mother Committee and Dr. Alyaa Moussa as IVI’s Global Goodwill Ambassador.

DOMI (Diseases of the Most Impoverished) Program

Kuwait served as a co-funder to DOMI, the first program carried out by IVI from 2000-2006. DOMI aimed to gather scientific evidence on the burden of cholera, typhoid fever, and shigellosis at various sites in Asia and Africa. Up until 2008, the Kuwaiti government served as a key source of core funding to IVI’s programs.
