IVI and Ecuador

 

Member State Relations

On 25 March 1998, The Ambassador of Ecuador to the United Nations, H.E. Luis Valencia Rodríguez, signed the IVI Establishment Agreement

In 1999, The National Congress of Ecuador ratified the IVI Establishment Agreement.

In 2000, Ambassador Patricio Zuquilanda Duque represented Ecuador on the IVI Institute Support Council.

On 24 November 2020, H.E. Luis Gallegos, Foreign Minister of Ecuador made an official visit to IVI. As a result, IVI and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility signed a 5-year MOU to explore collaboration.

On 8 November 2021, H.E. Cesar Montaño, Vice Foreign Minister of Ecuador, made an official visit to IVI to discuss ongoing collaboration 

In 2021, IVI began discussions with the Universidad San Francisco de Quito on potential collaboration. USFQ is preparing a concept note for a potential project.

 

Ongoing Collaboration

In 2020, IVI and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility signed a Memorandum of Understanding agreeing to explore and discuss opportunities for future collaboration and knowledge sharing in the areas of capacity building, infectious disease research, epidemiology, and vaccine research & development.

 

Since 2021, IVI and Ecuador’s Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) have been engaged in discussions to develop a project proposal to advance vaccine R&D and manufacturing capacity in Ecuador.
