Yes. The International Vaccinology Course is a great opportunity for those early in their careers in vaccinology to build knowledge, practical skills, and professional connections in vaccine science and development. Through lectures, quizzes, case studies, networking opportunities, and site visits, the course provides an inclusive and immersive training experience.
University of Rwanda
Students currently enrolled at the University of Rwanda (UR) are eligible to apply for the International Vaccinology Course directly through the university. Participation with eligible registration through UR is free of charge.
Karolinska Institutet and Universities in Sweden
Students who are currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program or hold a Ph.D. and are currently affiliated with a university in Sweden may register for IVC 2026 as a KI Doctoral Course through the Karolinska Institutet (KI) application system. UR and KI registration are available exclusively to participants who meet each institution’s respective affiliation criteria. All other participants should register as general participants through the standard IVC registration process. After submitting the general registration form, you will receive an email from IVI with an invoice for your course registration fee within 7 business days.
Registration is considered complete only upon payment of the course fee. Please remit the total amount by the date on the invoice. Once the payment is received, IVI will follow up to confirm your registration.

The course fee includes all course materials, daily lunches and refreshments, a networking reception, as well as the welcome dinner. Please note that airfare, accommodation, and ground transportation are not included. Travel arrangements are covered for fellows and invited speakers; all other participants are responsible for organizing their own travel.
The IVI Vaccinology Fellowship is open to researchers from low- and middle-income countries and supports their participation in the International Vaccinology Course. We invite researchers from these countries who are working, studying, or conducting research in vaccinology to apply for the fellowship. We recommend that applicants have a background in vaccines, biotechnology, public health, or a related field, with professional proficiency in English, as the course will be conducted entirely in English.

- Applicants must be proficient in the English language.
- Applicants are required to select the IVC site nearest to their point of travel origin (i.e., Kigali, Rwanda; Seoul, Republic of Korea; Stockholm, Sweden).
- Incomplete applications and applicants with multiple submissions (i.e., multiple e-mails or site locations) will be removed from the application pool.
Yes. The IVI Vaccinology Fellowship is open to applicants from a low- or middle-income country (LMIC) as classified by the World Bank.
The applicant must hold the nationality of a low- and middle-income country (LMIC) regardless of where they currently reside.
“Low- and middle-income countries” (LMICs) is a term used to refer to countries with economies classified as low-income and middle-income by the World Bank.

The timeline for the IVI Vaccinology Fellowship in 2026 is as follows:
- 14 April 2026: Application opens for all three IVC sites
- 24 May 2026: Application closes at 18:00 CAT/CEST
- 22 June 2026: Short-listed candidates may be contacted for further information
- 20 July 2026: Applicants will be notified of results
- 24 July 2026: Confirmation of intent to accept the fellowship and attend is required
- 27 July 2026: Travel and accommodation arrangements begin
- 30 Aug 2026: Arrival in the host city of the fellow’s IVC site
- 4 Sept 2026: Completion of the IVC and departure
