Malawian Ambassador to Korea visits IVI
Mr. Reuben Ngwenyam, Ambassador of the Republic of Malawi to Korea, visited the International Vaccine Institute on February 5. The ambassador was accompanied by Mr. Suk-Young Kim, Honorary Consul for the Honorary Consulate of Malawi in Seoul. Dr. Thomas Wierzba, IVI’s Deputy Director General for Translational Research, gave the ambassador a presentation on IVI emphasizing cholera vaccine demonstration projects. The ambassador was also debriefed by IVI scientists Drs. NamSeon Beck and Soon Ae Kim about IVI’s planned oral cholera vaccine demonstration project to be conducted in Malawi, and expressed interest in Malawi-IVI cooperation. IVI senior scientist Rodney Carbis gave a tour of his process development laboratory to the delegation, which also included Dr. Sangchul Yoon, Ophthalmology Department, Yonsei University College of Medicine in Seoul.
