We are seeking an Associate Researcher for a 2-year-regular position (renewable) to work within the Clinical Development department at the International Vaccine Institute in Seoul, Korea. (Duty station : Seoul, Korea)
Job Description
This job is responsible for supporting the project teams in the effective and efficient execution of programmatic and logistical aspects of observational and other research projects in CARE Unit.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Support project research
- Provide support to principal investigator/project team on study design and development of study protocols, forms, and standard operating and good clinical practice procedures in provision of technical guidance in the field
- Prepare training materials relevant to the study project for internal and external use as appropriate
- Contribute to the preparation of vaccination campaign, take part in the activities on the ground for on- site monitoring of the vaccination campaign activities, and assist in conducting coverage surveys,
- Provide support and take part in vaccine effectiveness study including surveillance strengthening
- Contribute to the planning and development of scientific agendas and presentations for workshops, trainings and international scientific meeting/conferences
- Ongoing verification of program-related and site-related documents, including protocols, informed consents, study forms, and scientific as well as financial reports, and visiting study sites to assess program progress, provide feedback and training, troubleshooting for scientific and technical issues, and assure capacity-building and compliance to project activities
- Provide support for legal documents such as research agreements, memorandum of understandings, and service agreements for the assigned program areas
- Coordinate and monitor submission of project-related institutional review board (IRB)-documents as requested
- Work closely with the Project PI and Project Team at IVI and site collaborating institutes for the successful implementation and delivery of project activities with quality and in timely manner
- Participate in the regular Project Team meetings and conference calls and prepare agenda for meetings and follow-up on action items

2. Support Field Project supervision
- Support project team by accounting for activities of field workers on site to ensure proper implementation of study protocol and SOPs/SSPs
- Participate in the initial site visits for field assessments and discussions as required
- Participate in the project kick-off meeting and stakeholder meetings as required
- Prepare and implement community-level surveys on the ground with Project Team
- Support or/and conduct trainings (TOT: training of trainers) on the ground for the site Project Team as required
- Conduct regular field site monitoring visits Project PI and Project Team to ensure quality performance of all project activities, including surveillance procedures for vaccine effectiveness study (including patient screening, enrollment, clinical and sample collection, sample procedures and handling, sample reception and testing at the project-designated laboratories, data entry and management procedures, and other needs as identified, )
- Identify unique or recurring issues inconsistent with study protocol
- Assess and address research topics related to study protocol and motivate field team to achieve high performance and results
3. Support Database Management
- Facilitate database sharing from field sites to project data management team
- Monitor data quality and address data issues together with project data management team
- Monitor database cleaning to ensure proper data is available for analysis
- Work on geospatial and mapping analysis together with project team
4. Publication support
- Create reports for sharing results and assisting field evaluation and monitoring
- Analyze data for trends and associations for publication
- Contribute in drafting/editing/reviewing of scientific publications
Job Requirements and Qualifications
1. Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
2. Related Field Work Experience
- 3+ years with Bachelor’s degree; 0+ year with Ph.D./M.D. or Master’s degree
3. Technical and Professional Skills / Knowledge
- Knowledge of data analysis programs especially geospatial mapping.
- Post-graduate training courses in Global Health/Public Health/Biostatistics are preferred.
4. Language Proficiency
- Fluency in English
- French is beneficial
