¡®Science Leadership Course¡¯ conducted to nurture future global leaders

The IVI held a six-day  training course for 63 talented high school students as part of the IVI Science Leadership Program (SLP) during September 1-6 at IVI¡¯s headquarters and LG¡¯s corporate training center.

The Science Leadership Course consisted of a series of lectures by exemplars in science and industry held at the LG Learning Center in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, and included numerous cultural events and activities such as volunteer activities and a team-based marathon held in Seoul. Invited lecturers included Dr. Yi So-youn, Korea¡¯s first astronaut, who shared her space experience with students; Dr. John Clemens, IVI Director-General, who addressed ¡°Vaccine Science and Global Leadership¡±; and Kang Ye-na, Prima Ballerina of Universal Ballet. The weeklong course was the centerpiece of the IVI-SLP, which aims at nurturing future global leaders by improving students¡¯ global humanitarian leadership, and by instilling them with the spirit of volunteerism through SLC and volunteer activities. The program, which began in June and continued through December, was sponsored by LG Electronics and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Korea Herald, and the Community Chest of Korea.
