Yang-Hyun Foundation becomes first ¡®Giving Partner of IVI¡¯

Yang-Hyun Foundation of Korea became the first ¡°Giving Partner¡± of the IVI through a 50 million won donation to the Institute. The Foundation was appointed as an ¡°IVI Giving Partner¡± at a ceremony held at the IVI headquarters on August 6, 2008. A Giving Partner is a donor that contributes $50,000 (or 50 million won) or more per year to the IVI to support its global humanitarian efforts.

Yang-Hyun Foundation is a private Korean foundation, founded in 2006 with a financial contribution of the late Chairman Cho Su-Ho of Hanjin Shipping, a leading shipping company based in Korea. Over the past years, the Foundation has focused its charitable giving and activities on supporting medical care for underprivileged children, including children with rare diseases.

Attending the IVI ceremony were Director Yoon Hyung-Kyu, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism; Director Lim Kyung-Su, Professor of Ulsan University College of Medicine; and Ko Bong-Hwan, General Manager of the Foundation; as well as IVI Director-General Dr. John Clemens; Deputy Director-General Michael Goon; Ms. Sandra Wilcox, Head of the Communications and Development Unit; and Ms. Joy Sohn, Head of Fundraising at the Institute.

Dr. Clemens thanked the Foundation for its generosity and asked the delegation to convey his appreciation to Ms. Choi Eun-Young, Chairwoman of the Foundation, who was not able to present at the ceremony. Ms. Choi, who is dedicated to helping children, led the Foundation¡¯s decision to support the IVI.

 

KEB Foundation donates 30 million won

donates 30 million won for the year 2008 to the Institute at IVI headquarters on October 17.

The KEB Foundation, affiliated with Korea Exchange Bank, donated 30 million won to the IVI on October 17, 2008 as part of its annual contribution to the Institute. The KEB Foundation has donated a total of 130 million won to support the IVI¡¯s annual vaccinology course over the past five years.
